A wad of €1,300 lying of a desk in a hotel room landed two Sicilian teenagers in court yesterday morning.

The teenagers, Giuseppe Gelsomino, 18 and his 17-year-old friend who is not being named because he is a minor, were conditionally discharged for three years but were told by Magistrate Anthony Vella they were facing up to three years in prison.

They stole the money after spying the cash through an open door when walking back to their room in St George’s Park Hotel,St Julian’s.

The teenagers cooperated with the police and gave the money back as soon as they took it.
