Tecom have reiterated their full comitment to continue with their investment in SmartCity, Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said today.

He admitted that there might have been a slowdown in the Ricasoli project earlier this year as the Dubai investors assessed their investments across the world because of the international recession.

When asked, during a press conference, whether he was concerned that no tenants for Smart City Malta had yet been announced, Mr Fenech said the fact that Tecom had confirmed their investment showed that there were good prospects.

Speaking about investment in general, Mr Fenech said there was a healthy appetite by potential foreign investors in Malta.

The minister also said that the privatisation of Malta Shipyards was on track and an announcement on the preferred bidders for the ship repair facility and Malta Super Yachts, would be made in the next few days.
