Teatru Unplugged is marking its 10th anniversary this year.

Since its inception in 1998, it has had three main objectives: to serve as a platform for upcoming local musicians; to expose patrons to different genres of music; and to entertain, said its producers.

The 10th edition is no exception and the producers have tried to achieve a balance between new talent and more established artistes, together with the Teatru Unplugged signature format of different genres and short acts in one show.

This year's line-up includes a number of established foreign and local artistes: singer-songwriter Grimaud; New York-based pianists Paul Shaw and Anne Paolini Shaw, with their classical repertoire; and solo pianist and singer Carrie, who is performing at Teatru Unplugged for the first time.

The second part of the show is will be taken up by a local band, put together especially for this year's edition. Directed and set up by percussionist Renzo Spiteri, it features a number of leading musicians, together with four established local singers Ivan Filletti, Kristina Casolani, Sue Bottone and Gianni.

Kinnie Teatru Unplugged X will be held at the Manoel Theatre on December 7, 8 and 9, and performances start at 8 p.m. It will be hosted by Claire Agius.
