Underage teens at a Paceville club were not asked for any identification when entering a Paceville club with their teachers last June, a court heard this morning.

The court heard that the group went to Chequers with two teachers after their graduation ceremony.

The teenagers were giving evidence in the case against club owner Glen Ciantar, who stands charged with allowing minors under 17 into the club on June 22.

A boy, 16, testified that the bouncers did not ask for identity cards. But later that evening police officers asked the teens for identification and took their particulars on seeing that they were under 17.

A 16-year-old girl said she went to Bay Street with her friends when, at about midnight, her mother called her and told her she was waiting for her near Chequers. The girl went there and, when she did not see her mother, walked into the club to look for her.

But as she stepped back outside, a police officer took her particulars.

The girl said she had never been there before and only went inside to look for her mother.

Lawyer Joseph Giglio represented the accused.
