A 22-year-old guitar teacher is trying to get over a separation from his partner by giving away a Malta holiday he had bought for her.

Tom Frankenburg has uploaded a video on YouTube in which he says he will give the trip to Malta to the most deserving person, the Daily Mirror reports.

Tom, from Nottingham, says in his three-and-a-half minute video that he is donating the trip as a way to get over his break-up and to make the world a better place.

"We live in a broken world - a place where people get hurt, where war happens, where equality just doesn't exist, and I want to fix it.

"Obviously I can't fix everything but I can fix it a little bit and hopefully this video will inspire you to do the same, even if it's just a little thing.

"Like sitting next to that lonely kid at school or buying a homeless person a sandwich for lunch on the streets.

"It all counts and together we can make this place a better place to live in."

The holiday, from July 3 to July 10, includes return flights to Malta from East Midlands Airport, a stay at a four-star hotel and car rental.

Mr Frankenburg said he will even chip in towards the £35 bmibaby charges for changing the names on the plane tickets.

He told the BBC he asked his ex-girlfriend before offering to give away the £1,000 holiday.

He said: "The majority of responses are not people nominating themselves. It's actually people nominating other people, which is really nice actually, that people are doing that."

He has asked people to email him about claiming the holiday and invited people to film their responses as well.
