A 47-year-old teacher in a language school this morning pleaded not guilty to sending SMS messages of a sexual nature to the 17-year-old friend of his son.

The man, who is currently receiving treatment at Mount Carmel hospital, was charged with corrupting a minor, harassing the teenager and misusing a mobile phone. He is not being named to protect the minor.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia granted him bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000 to come into force once he is released from hospital.
