The Inland Revenue Department has, since 2008, carried out a total of 2,866 investigations, Finance Minister Edward Scicluna said in Parliament yesterday.

He was replying to a question by Silvio Schembri (PL).

The greatest number of investigations – 890 – were carried out in 2012.

There were 298 in 2008, followed each respective year by 410, 322, 380, 890, 528 and 38 this year.
