Tarxien 1, Qormi 1
Tarxien Rainbows dropped two precious points in their chase of runaway leaders Valletta as Noel Coleiro’s men could only manage a 1-1 draw against Qormi in an entertaining encounter at the Hibs Stadium.
It was Qormi who made a storming start to the match as after 15 minutes the returning Aboubakar Bello Osagie showed great skill to dribble past two defenders and fire a low shot past Tarxien goalkeeper David Cassar.
Tarxien looked stunned but they slowly started to grow in stature but had to wait till the 56th minute to restore equilibrium when Daniel Mariano Bueno stormed into the area and his low cross was inadvertently deviated into his own net by Qormi defender Hojung Kang.
After that goal Tarxien pushed more men forward and in the final two minutes Ricardo Costa missed two glaring opportunities when first he saw his stinging drive pushed away by Matthew Camilleri. Then seconds later, the Brazilian was put through on goal by Cristiano but he incredibly fired over with only Camilleri to beat.
Ricardo Costa was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
