Tarxien Rainbows took a decisive step towards retaining their Premier League status when they eased past Mqabba 5-0 at the Hibs Stadium this evening.

The Rainbows were the better side and their early pressure was rewarded on 24 minutes when Daniel Mariano Bueno moved past his marker before he let fly a curling drive that flew into the top corner of the net.

Mqabba's response failed to arrive and their demise was all but sealed with three quick fire goals after the interval.

On 57 minutes Bueno released Adrian Carabott who shrugged off the challenge of Mark Anthony Psaila before hitting a low drive past Kris Calleja.

Mqabba were nowhere to be seen and Tarxien sealed the points on 65 minutes when in a quick break, Carabott found the umarked Ricardo who drilled the ball past Calleja.

More woes followed for Mqabba as three minutes later substitute Clayton Micallef upended Bueno inside the area and referee Esther Azzopardi pointed to the spot. Luiz De Castro stepped up for the kick and drilled the ball past Calleja.

Tarxien added a fifth goal in time added on when Ricardo put Carabott through and the Rainbows striker rifled home to wrap up an impressive display from the Rainbows.

Tarxien striker Daniel Mariano Bueno was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
