ZEBBUG RANGERS-1, TARXIEN RAINBOWS-4

Tarxien Rainbows booked their place in the Last 16 of the FA Trophy after a 4-1 win over Zebbug Rangers.

The Rainbows looked in control after taking a two-goal lead but Zebbug reduced the deficit to revive their hopes. They tried to up their game in search of an equaliser but Tarxien struck twice in the closing stages to set up a meeting with Qormi.

Tarxien Rainbows all but sealed the issue in the first half after taking a two-goal lead.

Joao Pedro put them ahead from the penalty spot after Matthew Gauci had tripped Anderson in the box on 26 minutes.

Ten minutes from half-time, Luke Montebello scored from close range after receiving from Daniel Zerafa.

After a quiet start, Zebbug began to see more of the ball. They reduced the deficit when Angelo Catania's free-kick was fumbled by Sean Mintoff, the Tarxien goalkeeper.

Catania went close with another free-kick that sailed just wide of the upright but Tarxien sealed the issue with two late goals.

Triston Caruana, on as a substitute, drove past Spiteri after running on to Montebello's pass and, two minutes from time, Ayrton Azzopardi made it 4-1 from close range.
