The government should take a clear stand against Israel and exert more pressure to end the oppression on the Palestinians, a Maltese NGO said today.

The Palestine Solidarity Network condemned what it called the spate of Israeli aggression, kidnapping, restriction of movement and home demolitions over recent months.

“We need to understand the real reason behind these conflicts. The Palestinians are denied access to water, they are subjected to arbitrary arrests,” Andre’ Callus from the Palestine Solidarity Network – Malta said.

The network is made up of a group of organisations and individuals who are active against the oppression of Palestinians.

Palestinian Samra Bannoura said the wave of anger of the Palestinians would often be misinterpreted as acts of terrorism.

“These are fake claims and they need to be stopped if we are to stop the colonialism by Isreal. There are over five million Palestinians who cannot go back to Palestine. Farmers cannot farm, students cannot go to University,” she said.
