Syracuse police suspect that the same group of knife-wielding Sicilians who injured a Maltese man in Syracuse last Saturday were involved in another stabbing that same day.
A Maltese man sustained neck wounds in the incident after sailing to Sicily with two friends on a private boat. He was treated in hospital and is now back in Malta.
Contacted yesterday, an interpreter from the Syracuse Police Press Office said that prior, to that incident, an Italian youth filed a report that he had been attacked by a group of Sicilians carrying knives.
The Italian youth was treated in hospital for minor injuries.
Syracuse police are hoping to make some arrests in the coming days.
The police said that last Saturday, at around 3.30 a.m., officers of the Syracuse Flying Squad heard that an incident had occurred at the port of Syracuse.
When the officers went to the scene, they identified three Maltese men who said they had had a quarrel with some Sicilians who stabbed them with penknives.
