Synergene now has the capability to offer the world's largest panel of genetic tests, with over 300 tests on its list. Exactly 50 years after Watson and Crick published the structure of DNA in Nature, Synergene has launched its diagnostic genetic network under the name GENDIA (GENetic DIAgnostics).

Synergene, the DNA genetic facility, operates from two facilities: one in Attard and the other in Belgium. The company employs a team of highly skilled research scientists with experience in genetics, genomics and molecular biology, together with the latest DNA capillary sequencing equipment and technology, and constantly strives to be at the forefront of genetic testing.

The genetic network is being operated in collaboration with the AML group, a Belgium-based group of laboratories that operates three medical and one veterinary diagnostic lab in the Antwerp region, with core operational activities in virology, bacteriology, clinical biology and pathology.

On a consolidated basis the group employs around 160. The GENDIA network is being managed by Dr Patrick Willems, GENDIA's managing director and scientific director for Synergene.

In establishing this network, agreements were concluded with several genetic laboratories around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

Each facility has a solid reputation and a long-standing expertise in medical genetics. Through these agreements, Synergene is now able to offer a large panel of diagnostic tests and a faster, more reliable and cost-effective service reaching health service providers and individuals worldwide.
