A cyclist in Sydney, Australia found himself in hospital after his iPhone 6 exploded in his shorts, burning him so badly he needed skin graft surgery.
Gareth Clear, 36, noticed smoke and searing heat moments after falling from his bike, The Daily Telegraph reported.
"It was a one in one million chance I hit a part of the phone which pierced the lithium battery and it exploded,” he said.
Although not a common occurrence, news of exploding mobile phones crops up from time to time. Last year, a man in New Jersey, USA claimed he was unable to work after his iPhone 5s exploded in his pocket. In 2013, a Hong Kong man said an exploding Samsung Galaxy S4 burnt his house down, after it caught fire in his hands.
Apple has said it is investigating the Sydney incident.
