A worker was impaled by a metal rod through his forehead on a construction site in Sydney, Australian, media reported.

Nineteen-year-old Kieran Dodge was clearing rubble from the site with an excavator when the bar snapped and went through his forehead.

Dodge was given morphine and managed to hold the metal rod while ambulance workers freed him from the cabin, local media reported.

Ambulance staff praised Dodge's colleagues for not attempting to remove the rod.

He is now in a stable condition in hospital, Australian media said.
