B&M Supplies Ltd, the bathroom and cooling and heating group, has launched a new brand identity created by Switch Design and Brand Strategy of Mrieħel.

B&M was established in 1956 and has become one of the major suppliers to the construction industry providing a range of products from bathrooms, tiles and sofas as well as air conditioning and solar heating solutions.

Over the years the B&M identity had been tweaked a couple of times but the management felt that the company now needed a fresh identity that reflected today’s day and age, a stylish identity that complimented the enterprising brand and their quality products.

Switch Design and Brand Strategy is the creative design engine behind many local brands and campaigns.

The company worked closely with B&M to carry out a brand audit and new identity brief which then allowed them to put forward their creative proposal.

“Their approach to the rebranding exercise was refreshing. It was not simply about designing a new logo – they delved into much more detail and really worked with us to gain a better understanding of the company and the image we wanted to portray,” B&M director Martin Mallia said. “Since the company was established in 1956 by our father, we wanted to ensure that the identity reflects our established origins, as well as our brand values.”

Switch creative director Michael Azzopardi explained how the existing brand identity needed to be taken into consideration and coupled with management’s new vision for the brand. B&M is a family business with years of history that also had to be taken into account.

Besides the company logo and its application across the various media, Switch were also tasked with applying the new identity and creating some design tweaks to the facade of the B&M showroom on the Birkirkara bypass.
