Why has Swieqi been left out of the Mepa list (July 28) referring to tourist localities? Swieqi is a stone's throw away from all touristic areas, stretching from St Julians to Pembroke (both listed), and demolition and excavation have become the norm.

Swieqi hosts tourists in apartments and by far the largest intake of students is in this area. In her article (July 11), Dolores Cristina singled Swieqi out as a prominent student "stomping ground" and now apart from a noisy homecoming "in the early hours of the morning" cars have become the target of vandalism. This is hardly in line with the "hospitality" that these students are receiving from local residents.

The Swieqi residents need night surveillance of these areas, and an added patrol by wardens at night would be most welcome.
