Sweden's leading horse racing magazine, 'Trav Ronden' announced that a competition involving Sweden's foremost drivers will be held in Malta.
These contestants, including renowned driver Stig H. Johansson, will be here between February 19 and 22 to compete with their Maltese counterparts. A delegation of senior Swedish horse racing officials were in Malta last week for talks with Malta Racing Club officials including secretary general Tony Debono.
Klaus Koch, president of On Track Worldwide, the international horse racing events consultancy firm, said he considers Malta as a major, strategic partner when it comes to the export of Swedish trotters and the promotion of the Swedish breed.
The racing competition is being heavily promoted in Sweden through leading specialised publications, a dedicated website (http://www.travronden.se/malta/) and TV promos. The races will be filmed by a Swedish TV channel that will broadcast via satellite link.
