While on July 23, we Catholics celebrated the liturgical feast of St Briget of Sweden, a mother of eight children who lived more than half a millenium ago, another Brigette from Sweden in our days is campaigning for the introduction of abortion in Malta by striving to collect one million signatures.

If this is not an imposition engineered for maximum effect when Sweden has assumed the rotating Presidency of the European Union I do not know what is. Such misguided campaigning, no doubt with camouflaged support from a few locals, would condemn our islands to more shortfalls in demographic numbers and future workers - or is this another ploy aimed at reducing Maltese live births to make way for the invasion of outsiders without papers?
