An English-language student from Kazakhstan, Aibek Manapov, 23, was fined €116 and given a 10-month jail term suspended for three years after admitting to attacking fellow students and threatening them with a knife.

The incident happened in a Sliema hotel three days ago. Police inspector Jonathan Ransley prosecuted. The case was heard by Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech.
