A 36-year-old man was given a two-year jail term suspended for four years after pleading guilty to shooting at three people with the intention of seriously injuring them four years ago.

Joshua Grima, of Birkirkara, pleaded guilty to shooting at Marie-Claire Calleja, Joanne Bonello and Eric Farrugia on April 8, 2006 at Pinto Wharf, in Floriana. None of the three were injured.

Mr Grima also pleaded guilty to being in possession of an unlicensed weapon, carrying the weapon during the commission of the crime and holding the three against their will. Magistrate Audrey Demicoli ordered him to pay court expenses amounting to just over €1,000.
