A man who admitted to stealing €90 from a shop's cash register and holding its owner against her will with a fake gun was this morning given a two year jail term suspended for three years.

Stephen Pace, 26, of Sliema, admitted to the theft from Soap Box in Hamrun last month.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi also placed Mr Pace, who has drug problems, under a supervision order for three years.
