A bus driver was jailed for five months suspended for two years after he was found guilty of damaging a car in a road rage incident almost five years ago.

The court heard how Joseph Borg, 48, from Zabbar, who was driving a bus, almost crashed into Keith Galea's car in St Julian's in November 2008. He got down from his bus and began kicking Mr Galea's car, causing €350 of damage.

Three years after the incident, Mr Borg paid Mr Galea for the damage caused, with Magistrate Marsann Farrugia saying that although there was no admission, the fact that he paid for the damage was an implicit admission.

She noted how Mr Borg had five convictions on his criminal records, with three of them for traffic offences. Although the incident was not serious, his actions, where he lost control, ought to be punished.
