SLIEMA WANDERERS 2
Temile 31
Jefferson 47
ST ANDREWS 0
Sliema Wanderers found little difficulty to overcome the challenge of St Andrews andprogress to the fourth round of the FA Trophy.
It was a commanding performance from the Blues who held the initiative for much of the encounter and their pressure was rewarded with headed goals from Frank Temile and Jefferson.
Sliema dominated proceedings for long stretches and found the breakthrough on half hour mark. From a Ryan Fenech corner, Frank Temile was on hand to head home.
St Andrews responded a minute later but Kevaugh Atkinson’s shot was deflected just over.
Five minutes from the break, Alex Satariano raced clear but his angled drive just missed the upright.
Sliema all but sealed the issue two minutes into the second half.
Muchardi sent a fine cross towards Jefferson who headed past Calleja Cremona.
The Blues were clearly on top and 71 minutes John Mintoff, who replaced Ryan Fenech, played in Scerri but was denied by Calleja Cremona.
Nine minutes from time, St Andrews were unlucky when Adrian Borg’s header was somehow kept out by Jake Galea with the aid of the cross bar.
On 85 minutes, Galea was again called into action to keep out Aidan Friggieri’s angled drive.
