A total lunar eclipse, which was visible from Asia, Australasia and North and Central America, on Wednesday coincided with a “blue moon” and a “supermoon” in what some are calling a “super blue blood moon”.
The event, which for western hemisphere observers happened for the first time in 150 years, was the last in a trilogy of supermoons over the past two months.
The shimmery light, colour and size of the moon inspired photographers who captured superb images around the world.
