Lotto banks in Valletta are swarming with people as the Super 5 jackpot has gone up to €1 million.

The prospect of becoming a millionaire overnight without shedding a drop of sweat, has lured even those who do not usually bother to try their luck.

A ticket seller told timesofmalta.com that even the poorest person rushes to get a ticket with his five lucky numbers whenever the jackpot soars.

Although regular gamblers did not increase the amount of tickets they bought, the number of people flocking to the lotto banks increased more than three-fold, he added.

And this week’s 50c increase to the usual €1.50 price did not scare punters off, especially those who have been playing the Super 5 for years.

But another ticket seller believes that if tonight’s jackpot is won, the considerable increase in the price of Super 5 tickets will discourage even regular players.
