Summer seems to have arrived early for some this year and the Windsor Hotel and Diplomat Hotel wasted no time at all in saying yes to allowing these noisy nuisances back into their hotels, despite the amount of noise and street pollution this has caused for the last two years, especially last year.

This year, the students have arrived two months early and after chatting to the staff at both of these hotels, they are now fully booked from now until the end of summer with kids who are already causing far too much noise, not only for residents but for guests in these hotels too.

I live across the road from the Diplomat Hotel and in my apartment block, there are elderly people, and in the block adjacent to us, which is right next to the Windsor Hotel and across from the Diplomat Hotel where they prefer to keep their noise makers, are more elderly as well as families with young children.

The noise never seems to end and I have already been forced to open a police case against both the hotels, but even on the same day of making the report, where they told me to call if I had problems again, they only came for about a minute, then drove off to something more important.

Surely something can be done about this.

But do you think the hotels will budge on kicking students out their hotels? No. Why not? Because they are guaranteed money until the end of summer.

I had a staff member from one of the hotels inform me that they can’t complain too much or complain directly to the leaders, because the schools do not like it.

He has also informed me that they can’t complain too much because then the schools will not choose them as a preferred hotel for their students to reside in.

I know it is not only the Diplomat and the Windsor hotels that have this problem, but all the hotels that take on large groups of students.

So I know that there have to be more families and people out there who are getting just as annoyed about the amount of noise they have to deal with all through the summer.

I would just like the English schools and hotels to agree that if their kids make a noise and police are forced to come control the group, there are fines implemented that the families of these students would need to pay, or better yet, that these students get put onto the first flight out of Malta, forfeiting any money already invested into learning English.

How much English is actually learned? I think nothing at all… These are three to four weeks of freedom for these students who are given free reign to do what they want and get away with it.

Enough is enough and something has to be done now!

I also have video footage of them screaming in the streets on a week night and swearing at me because I asked them to keep quiet and when they didn’t listen, I was taking pictures.

They spit, scream, litter and just cause an absolute problem for everyone in the area.
