A number of grants are being offered by the French embassy to Maltese citizens to follow training courses this summer in France to enhance their knowledge of French culture and improve their language or teaching skills.

This year, the grants are offered to teachers of French or student teachers in the final year of their studies (B.Ed/PGCE French) to follow an intensive course in pedagogical techniques in France.

The two-week training courses may be held either from July 19 to 29 or from August 2 to 12 at the Centre de Linguistique Appliquée of the University of Franche-Comté in Besancon, France. This is an accredited training centre specialised in didactics and methodology of the teaching of French as a foreign language.

Apart from the course, participants will also be able to take part in cultural activities during their stay.

The French embassy will cover all expenses related to the course and the participants' stay in France, excluding the return airfare.

To apply, download a copy of the application form available on the embassy's website www.ambafrance-mt.org/spip.php?article386, complete two copies and send them to the French Embassy, 130, Melita Street, Valletta, by March 26.

The embassy also offers schemes to Maltese science students at Masters or Ph.D level interested in following internships in French laboratories and research centres.
