A series of cultural activities is to be held to celebrate the conclusion of an extensive programme of restoration works around the Gozo Citadel.

The activities will be hosted by the Ministry of Gozo, which is hoping to attract people to rediscover Gozo's ancient walled capital.

Called #ĊittadellaGozo, the activities will be kicked off by the prime minister on July 9 when some 60 attractions around the citadel will be open for viewing, including the Cathedral belfry and the Gozo courts building. There will also be concerts and exhibitions, historic re-enactments, street theatre, film shows and a dance festival.

The activities continue until September, featuring various concerts, a musical , a festival of music and dance and a yoga festival.

The full programme will be available on the #ĊittadellaGozo facebook page.

The restoration project, launched some years ago and partly funded by the EU, included a clean-up and consolidation works on the bastions, consolidation works and embellishment of important buildings and facades within the old town, the re-opening of the old gate into the town and the recent transformation of the dusty ditch just outside the bastions into an oasis of greenery.
