Colette Sultana has obtained yet another superb result when this weekend she managed to beat three better ranked players to win the Welsh Junior Open in the Under 17 girls age group.

This is Sultana's most prestigious result in European ranking tournaments so far and reflects her continued improvement, following last year's victory in the Irish Junior Open, and other titles achieved in previous years in Spain and Italy in younger age groups.

In the final, which was played in Cardiff today, the Maltese junior champion faced Elspeth Young.

The first two games were very balanced with the Scot taking the first game 11-9 and Sultana responding to win the next 11-8.

The third game, which proved crucial, was even closer and went to a 10-10 tie. Colette kept her nerve well to win the next two points and secure the game.

Sultana showed excellent form and outplayed her opponent to win the fourth game 11-5 and claim the title.

Colette Sultana is currently based in England, in the first year of her Sixth Form studies at Millfield School. Her squash coaches at Millfield are former world champion Jonah Barrington and Ian Thomas.

She will be back in Malta in April to play for the Maltese ladies national team who will be competing in the European Team Championships.
