A Sudanese was this morning jailed for 18 months after he admitted to human trafficking to help an immigrant escape from Malta.

Juma Saleh, 40, of Hal Far, pleaded guilty to conspiring to traffic illegal immigrants in May last year and before.

The court took into consideration his clean criminal record and jailed him for 18 months.
