Three students from St Margaret College were recently chosen to participate in a project organised by the EU’s European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).

They will be discussing European issues and youth policies together with students from all other EU member states during a mock plenary session of the EESC from May 5 to 7.

They will also be drafting an opinion on ‘Youth on the Move’, a new European initiative designed to help youths gain the knowledge and skills needed for employment.

After the two-day session, they will also be involved in the EESC’s Open Doors Day, where they will be able to participate in fun activities, games and quizzes.

The students are Jorge Grech, Jamie Grech and Brenda Xuereb. They are Form 4 students at St Margaret College Boys’ Secondary School, Verdala and St Margaret College Girls’ Secondary School, Cospicua.

They will be supported by the college youth worker Simon Schembri, who will also help them prepare for the activity.

A total of 27 participating schools, one per EU member state, have been selected randomly from around 1,000 applications.

The initiative, which is called ‘Your Europe Your Say’ is being organised by the EESC for the second time.
