The Malta Association of Hospitality Executives (MAHE) today welcomed the stronger enforcement announced by the Malta Tourism Authority on hotels which are not living up to the expected standards.

The MAHE said these changes – including the employment of well-trained hotel managers who had a better knowledge of the sector’s policies and regulations – would improve upkeep and service standards, as well as health and safety measures.

The association also approved of the new Tourism for All initiative launched by Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis.

The guideline, written with the help of the National Commission for Persons with Disability, aims at making attractions, accommodation and public spaces more accessible to disabled and ageing populations.

“It is of essence for the hospitality sector to ensure such initiatives, as the social inclusion it provides makes for a more sustainable tourism product,” MAHE said.
