The new Telecareplus service has drawn strong interest from elderly people with the call centre having received 750 calls in a month, Parliamentary Secretary Franco Mercieca said today.

Speaking at the call centre, he said 361 calls were about transfer from the old service,  273 were requests for new services and 118 calls were enquiries.

The services of Telecare Plus include an ‘intelligent hub which reminds elderly people when they must take their medicines, a panic alarm and an  “I’m Ok button”. The charge is €4 per month.
