The Indonesian meteorology agency has issued a tsunami warning after an undersea quake at 6.6 strength on the Richter scale hit offshore East Timor. The U.S. Geological Survey put the quake at 6.3 magnitude and at a depth of 164 km (103 miles). The epicentre of the quake was 299 km northeast of East Timor's capital city, Dili, Indonesia's agency said.
