The Mgarr Strawberry festrival, as usual, attracted thousands of visitors today, and organisers said they expected to sell even more than the 8,000 kilos of strawberries they sold last year.

Festa Frawli, organised by the local council, was held on the parvis of Mgarr church. Apart from buying boxes of the constant flow of fresh strawberries, visitors could also sample a huge strawberry cake and a wide variety of straberry-based snacks, desserts and beverages.

Jam, wine and other home made products were also be on sale.

The activity included ghana (folk singing), games and horse riding for children.

One of the farmers said in between carrying strawberry boxes that the weather had been very good for the fruit this year, and the crop was bigger than in the past few years.
