On Saturday, Heritage Malta is hosting the children’s workshop ‘Planting Story Seeds’ at the National Museum of Natural History in Mdina. The workshop is a unique opportunity to meet the storytellers, hear the stories and pick up some storytelling techniques. The workshop is part of a long-term collaboration between five European countries for the project ‘Here Where I Belong’, funded by FEST and Creative Europe.

In the old days, stories were used to share  values and wisdom from one generation to another. They allowed the young and the elderly to come together, so that the young could draw upon the wisdom of the old, while the old could lean upon the strength of the young. Probably today, we give little thought about how our lives are shaped by the stories of the place and the people who lived there before us.

During this workshop, five storytellers from Malta, Norway, Italy, Slovenia and Hungary are coming together to rewrite old fairy tales, making them more relevant to today. The stories will focus on nature and will explore narratives about the natural landscapes of Europe which are an important part of our cultural heritage. 

This event is aimed at children between the ages of five and 12. Children must present their Heritage Malta Passport to attend. Attendance is free, however, booking is required. Only 20 children, each with one accompanying adult, can attend the workshop. Therefore, participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
