Parts from the roof of a World Cup stadium in Brazil fell on to the pitch during a storm, just hours before a regional championship.

Three pieces of metal used to collect water on the roof became detached and fell on the pitch near the benches, and also on to the stands at the Mineirao Stadium in the city of Belo Horizonte, which is scheduled to host a World Cup semi-final. No one was injured.

There were holes on the roof where the metal parts were located and water fell directly into the stands.

The stadium's drainage system also apparently did not work properly as huge puddles formed on the pitch before Cruzeiro's 4-0 win over Minas Boca in the Minas Gerais state championship.
