Bad weather has affected repairs to a power cable which developed a fault and knocked out electricity to some parts of Sliema and Gzira yesterday, Enemalta said. Today's storm also caused power cuts in Armier and Burmarad.

Power in parts of Sliema and Gzira was lost yesterday at 7.30 p.m. Enemalta said most substations, were re-energized within three hours. Testing then continued to restore supply to the remaining substations. However, since two faults were identified, it was not possible to provide supply from alternate sources to two substations in Gzira.

During the night, repairs were delayed due to moisture in the cable. The storm then flooded the culvert  and repair work had to be postponed until the weather cleared.

Due to the adverse weather conditions faults were also reported in Armier and in parts of Burmarrad. Works will start as soon as the storm clears, Enemalta said.
