FIMBank’s share price increased by 3.2% during this morning’s session to US$0.98 on high volumes amounting to almost 265,000 shares. The equity has therefore recovered some of its recent declines. Last Thursday FIMBank published its 2010 half-year results revealing a 16.1% increase in after-tax profits to USD$3.39 million.

Elsewhere on the equity market, Bank of Valletta plc practically reversed yesterday’s decline as the share price edged 0.6% today to regain the €3.299 level also on high volumes of 26,238 shares. Meanwhile HSBC Bank Malta plc was inactive today with best bids at €2.981 with lowest offers placed at the last closing price of €2.999.

On the other hand, Middlesea Insurance plc declined 6.4% to drop back to the €1.03 level across two trades totalling 6,050 shares. The Insurance Group is scheduled to report its 2010 interim results tomorrow.

Malta International Airport plc also closed in negative territory (-0.6% to €1.61). Yesterday MIA announced that as from January 2011, International Airport Advertising Corporation Ltd will be taking over the advertising programme on its premises.

Yesterday evening, RS2 Software plc published its 2010 half-year results showing a 6% increase in revenues to €2.8 million resulting in an improved profit after tax for the period to €286,708, a 41.4% increase over the comparative period last year. Similar to last year the Directors did not declare an interim dividend. The interim results failed to generate any trades as the equity remained inactive today with best bids at €0.26 and lowest offers at the €0.58 level.

On the bond market, the euro tranche of the recently issued 7.15% Mediterranean Investments Holding plc 2015 – 2017 touched yet another all-time high of 104% before easing to a close of 103.75%, representing a 75 basis points increase over the previous day’s closing price. Meanwhile the majority of Malta Government Stock prices increased in line with the decline in international yields to record lows.
