My brother was taken to hospital by ambulance with heart trouble and after over four hours of waiting all they did was check his blood pressure and did an ECG.

In all that time no doctor came to see to him. When his wife went to inquire how much longer it was it going to take before he gets examined, she was told that he was not even on their list.

There is something drastically wrong with the running of Mater Dei. I for one thought that things would get so much better when the Labour government was elected, but alas, we are no further forward.

Someone in charge of this sad situation should take responsibility and make sure things start to run more smoothly for patients.

Also, why is it that when they send for you for an appointment and you get there in plenty of time, you find out that everyone’s appointment is for the same time, usually at 8am? How come it’s done differently abroad, where they give you an appointment and leave a 15-20 minute gap to the following appointment?

But not in Malta, where you are expected to wait for four hours or more just to see a specialist, unless of course you have plenty of money and agree to pay for private care.

I am very disappointed that this government has not moved things forward a lot faster.

We are in the same position that we were 25 years ago so far as hospital is concerned.
