Questions in parliament on the composition of the consortium which has won the government contract for a technical and feasibility study about a digital hub in Gozo led a Nationalist MP on a merry go round today.

Nationalist MP Marthese Portelli asked Economic Services Minister Chris Cardona for the information.

He replied by asking the MP to put the question to the responsible minister.

When she asked the Minister of Gozo, he referred her to a reply he gave last week. That reply last week, given to Chris Said (PN) was that the MP should ask the minister for economic services.

The Times of Malta last month reported that Gozo Connect consortium had won the €356,000 tender but efforts to identify the companies involved in the consortium yielded no results.

Checks with the Malta Financial Services Authority confirmed there was no company registered in that name.

The newspaper was referred to the government’s Commerce Department, also known as the Trade Department, but was told no assistance could be given because records were based on personal details.

When Times of Malta contacted the Department of Contracts, which awarded the tender, it was told the department was not obliged to reveal the information of the companies involved.
