Harpist Cecilia Sultana de Maria, born in Britain of Maltese parents, is currently being seen regularly on ITV in an advertisement with well-known comedian, actor, broadcaster and columnist Stephen Fry.

In the advert, Ms Sultana de Maria plays the harp while Mr Fry waxes lyrical about his flavour of Walkers crisps, Stephen Fry Up.

The campaign is part of the Clash of the Comics series for Red Nose Day.

Ms Sultana de Maria has performed at various local venues, including the Manoel Theatre, the Casino Maltese and San Anton Palace.

She has also performed several times in Italy, Spain and Portugal and in variousvenues in the UK, includ-ing the National Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace.

She has appeared with the English Chamber Orchestra and took part in concerts with the Trio Ardente in London, Malta and in Trinidad. She performed Debussy’s Danse Sacrée et Danse Profane at the Barbican Hall as well as at Goldsmith University.

With the Philharmonia Chamber Ensemble she took part in Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro for string quartet, flute, harp and clarinet.

Ms Sultana de Maria is based in London. She pursued part of her studies at the prestigious Purcell School of Music and with whose orchestra she performed in the UK as well as in Malta.

In 2008, she was a finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year and in the same year took part in the World Harp Congress in Amsterdam. She has performed at the House of Lords and at the Malta High Commission in London as well as in Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral.
