A cash-strapped Briton yesterday admitted to thefts from 12 hotel rooms at a hotel in Qawra.

Mark Bennett, 18, was also charged with attempting to steal from another six rooms at the Qawra Inn, previously known as the Palm Court Hotel.

Almost all the stolen items were sold - mainly to Africans - and could not be recovered, Prosecuting Inspector Daniel Zammit said.

Mr Bennett was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at a later date.
