First we had the great news that the tourism industry is picking up and that tourism bookings this year look promising. Now we have just learnt via Eurostat that Malta is doing much better than most of Europe as far as retail trade is concerned. While retail transactions dropped by 1.1 per cent in the 16-member euro area, in February 2010 Malta saw an increase of 3.1 per cent compared to February 2009. In fact, Malta was placed second to Austria which saw an increase of 3.2 per cent.

The fact that Malta's deficit and unemployment are one of the lowest among European countries will surely boost business confidence and foreign investment even further.
