The state visit by Greek President Karolos Papoulias caused misery to hundreds of drivers in Valletta and Floriana today.

The president's programme was focused on Valletta and Floriana, including the official welcoming ceremony in Valletta and his meeting with President George Abela, followed by wreath-laying at the Floriana war memorial and separate meetings with the Prime Minister and the Opposition leader at the Hotel Excelsior.

Traffic police closed off roads well before the Presidents carcade drove past.

Two people who separately contacted timesofmalta.com said they were stuck in buses for between 20 minutes and half an hour as they were driven between St Anne Street, Floriana and the bus terminus.
