State pharmacies are opening an hour late following industrial action ordered by the UĦM Voice of the Workers, the union said this morning as it warned it was not excluding intensifying actions as from next Monday.

The union said the pharmacists had also been ordered not to answer phones or process applications for the yellow health benefit card system.

It said it ordered the action because the Health Ministry was ignoring the collective agreement and promoting the people it wanted, rather than follow the procedure as agreed with the union and through which workers would be promoted on their abilities, rather than on the basis on who they were.
