I would like to inform Paul Chetcuti Caruana, the Labour mayor of Mosta, that there are hundreds of potholes and sunken trenches in the local streets - all caused by workmen of the Water Services Corporation.
Each time a service pipe is laid, the trench and service hole will subside due to third-rate repairs to the road surface. The older holes become deeper as the road foundations waste away when it rains. Potholes do not repair themselves.
It should be part of the job description for councillors to check on the state of the roads. If a councillor takes a 10-minute radius walk from the council office, he or she will note dozens of potholes and trenches. This should all be brought to the notice of the manager in charge of the WSC personnel, demands should be made that repairs be made at the WSC's expense.
Hopefully they will ensure that their people carry out the repairs to a better standard. Anybody who ignores the bad streets does not deserve to be re-elected.
