My family owns the largest share of a big house in Sta Venera which has been used by Aġenzija Sedqa, the government entity, and the centre for the blind before it, for many years.

Ever since it has been used by the government, my family has not received any rent nor any offer to purchase the property. For all this time, I have been writing to ministers, enquiring about the situation.

I first wrote to Lawrence Gonzi, when he was Minister of Social Policy, then as Prime Minister. He had initially promised that the government would buy the property but nothing came of it. The case was referred to John Dalli, who succeeded him as Minister of Social Policy. He in turn directed us to the Land Department, who then passed us on to the Department of Housing.

It was finally passed on to the present Minister of Education, Employment and the Family, Dolores Cristina, to whom I recently wrote, but again I have had no reply.

I have received only acknowledgments to all the letters I have addressed to various ministers and government departments, and I have got nowhere.

I think I have the right to know whether the government intends to buy the property at an acceptable price or to return it to its owners.
