Vittoriosa Stars picked up their first point of the campaign as they held Floriana to a goalless draw this afternoon.

Despite holding much of the possession throughout the match Floriana were unable to convert their dominance into goals with Ivan Woods and Michael Mecerod look well below their best in front of goal.

It was Floriana who created the best chance in the first half midway through the first half when Mecerod raced to a Christian Caruana pass, rounded Vittoriosa goalkeeper Simon Agius but his shot hit the foot of the post before finishing wide.

After the interval, Floriana kept up the pressure with Vittoriosa operating on the counter.

On 61 minutes Agius distinguished himself with a fine block on Woods header while 18 minutes from time substitute Ryan Darmanin saw his dipping header hit the bar.

Agius was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
